Total Recovery Network

Total Recovery Network

The Total Recovery Network (TRN) is a recovery community organization that promotes recovery through advocacy, education, and service. TRN uses group and peer-based social support models to build recovery supports which are defined as "individual, relational, and community resources that sustained recovery." TRN also has a strong youth component with the emphasis on preventing substance abuse and HIV/AIDS infection. Youth interventions are evidenced based with proven results and stress the importance of making positive life choices.

Recovery Supports Offered

At present, all of the programs and services mentioned in this publication are held at the C.R. Neal Dream Center.

Eligible persons must be in active recovery support group or be the immediate family member of someone in active recovery.

Group and Peer Support
Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. a recovery support meeting is held at the C.R. Neal Dream Center. Group participants share emotional, spiritual, morale insights on achieving and maintaining recovery. Peer mentors are also available as desired. Mentors meet individually outside of the group meetings as scheduled with the mentee.

Youth Prevention Initiatives
TRN now offers evidence based interventions that are proven to reduce youth risks for substance abuse and HIV/AIDS infection. These interventions are taught in fun but informative sessions that highlight decision making skills and character development. Courses consist of 6 week sessions (90 min per week), which are taught in a variety of settings (churches, schools, youth centers) and can be scheduled at any site in Richland County with 10 or more participants. Volunteers are also needed to facilitate sessions (free training provided).

GED Preparation
Individuals desiring to prepare for the GED Exam can receive training through a classroom instructor or through a computer-based study guide. General course instruction is offered as well as practice exams. Individuals will also be assisted with registering for the GED Examination upon completing sufficient preparation courses.

Placement assistance is provided for elementary and middle school students whose families meet income eligibility guidelines. After school services are offered following the Richland School District 1 calendar. Services are available M-F from 2:30 - 6:30 pm.
