The SC Women's Business Center (SCWBC) and Midlands Community Development Corporation (MCDC) announced today that the nationally recognized CORE FOUR® business planning course will be hosted at the C.R. Neal Dream Center located at 2430 Atlas Road, Columbia, SC. The four-week courses will meet at the C.R. Neal Dream Center on Wednesdays as scheduled from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. When last offered at the Dream Center,twenty-one aspiring and existing small business owners successfully graduated. Twenty percent of those who attended have since created jobs in SC.

All aspiring and existing business owners looking for success in marketing, business planning, and cash flow management are encouraged to register for this seminar. The course includes the basics for completing a successful business plan and developing business strategies that position a business for financing. Participants of CORE FOUR® receive a comprehensive curriculum that takes entrepreneurs from a business idea to launching a successful, market-driven, cash healthy, well-managed business. To ensure that participants gain a working knowledge of business operations, the four week class brings experienced business owners in as guest speakers to compliment hands-on activities during the course. Additionally, SCWBC Consultants are available to coach and assist with additional support including loan packaging, business networking, market development, contracting, and product development.

The SCWBC has a track record of clients with proven success. One client, Deborah Moore of AccuStatEMR, attained national recognition as 2007 SC Business Person of the Year and National Small Business of the Year Runner-Up. Head Chef, Billy Jefferson participated in CORE FOUR® and manages a successful retail business at the Dream Center. Another recent CORE FOUR® graduate, Gladys Young of Kindred Hearts Ministry says, "I wish that CORE FOUR was a required course before I began filing for our 501 (c) 3. SCWBC's training opened my eyes to many important issues in managing a non-profit business." Joy Campbell of Worth Repeating in West Columbia, recently recognized as "Best" Furniture Consignment Store said "I worked with (SCWBC) to develop the feasibility of a consignment store and business plan. The SCWBC class helped me to recognize that I had the skills to be a small business owner."
